Welcome to QPK

Welcome!

Queen's for Parkinson's Kingston (QPK) is run by Queen's University students and is a club based around supporting the Kingston Chapter of Parkinson's Canada. Our club strives to increase awareness for Parkinson's disease (PD), foster support on campus, as well as connect with Kingston support groups and fundraise for Parkinson's Canada and related research. Our website is a hub for information on our events and for learning about PD.

PD typically stems from dopamine deficiency in certain areas of the brain, resulting in motor symptoms and possibly cognitive dysfunctions. Many people are affected by PD directly, but the less obvious, yet still significant impact is on family members and caregivers. We hope that QPK can help and provide support for students and those in the Kingston community who are affected by PD.

There are many ways to contribute to the Parkinson’s community. Donations made towards PD research or to PD support groups equally advance the community. Should you wish to donate we have compiled a list of PD organizations you can choose to donate to. Thank you!

Volunteer

Each year we have two hiring sessions; one per semester (i.e., fall and winter) at Queen's. We hire club members to help with many different projects, from t-shirt sale fundraisers to writing blog articles. Help us make a difference in the Parkinson’s community and get involved in marketing, outreach, finance, or events. Keep an eye-out for hiring information by following us on social media or by clicking the button below!
